What We Are Collecting
The Swiss Center is collecting items that enhance the understanding of Swiss heritage and culture. These include materials created by, for, and about the Swiss in North America.
Objects may be declined if they fall outside the scope of the Center's collection goals or if items cannot be conserved or restored.
Artifacts being collected include:
Objects that represent the Swiss immigrant experience include:
Clothing, materials and other textiles;
Folk and fine art;
Products of science and technology;
Musical instruments of Swiss origin;
Fest event flyers, brochures, programs, other relevant publications from Saengerfests, Turnfests, Schutzenfests, Schwingfests, etc;
Fest memorabilia including cups, banners, flags, attendance badges, medals, wreath awards, August 1st and inter Hilfe badges, etc;
Swiss club member memorabilia.

Library and archival material being collected include:
Swiss Club records and proceedings;
Personal papers of Swiss immigrants to North America;
Genealogies and family histories;
Emigration travel accounts and diaries;
Swiss-North American business records;
Periodicals, newspapers, and newsletters;
Graphic materials including photographs, maps, posters, prints, postcards and stereoviews;
Sheet music and musical recordings;
Films and videos;
