Q'Orianka's father is from Peru and he belongs to the Quechua/Huachipaeri people. (Q'Orianka means "golden eagle" in Quechua) She had a part in "How the Grinch stole Christmas", and her first starring role was as Pocahontas in "The New World" (2005) (in which her younger brother Kainoa Wilc'amayu, and also had a small role and her Swiss grandmother Wurtila - "Wurzy" - was an extra.)
Her mother, Saskia, was the daughter of Ray Genet, an immigrant from French-speaking Switzerland, who was a member of the two-man team which made the first winter ascent of Mount McKinley.
