Each year, in tribute to the traditions brought by Swiss settlers in 1845, New Glarus residents celebrate Swiss Independence Day - the birth of the Swiss nation on August 1, 1291.

Lucerne is a lovely small city and part of Swiss history and legend as it is the setting for the most memorable part of the William Tell legend (the bit with the boy and the apple).
